: : : send some detail regarding these topic
: We produce hydrotreated petroleum products from Bitumen extracted from the Fort McMurray Oil Sands in Northern Alberta Canada. Essentially extracted bitumen is heated to about 600 and pumped thru two stage "Charge" pumps and heated further to 800F then sent to a battery of delayed cokers and then fractionated into the various raw products we produce. The equipment although new is already exceeding design capacity and as a result extraction is carrying over significant quantities os silicates and minerals. These charge pumps had 317L specified to be able to withstand Naphthenic Acids, however the solids are eroding the pump internals long before corosion can set up. Hence is the need to find an acceptable method of protecting agaist this abrasion.
Hi Ken
Straight WC/Co coatings I suspect will corrode. WC/Co/Cr or WC/Cr/Ni HVOF coatings may be worth considering as they will give the best wear resistance (assuming no corrosion) but I would not recommend their use without testing first.
Hard NiCr or Co based alloy coatings though not in the same league as carbide coatings for wear resistance should improve performance without the corrosion worries.
