Hi Andreas
The thermal conductivity of a thermal spray molybdenum coating will depend on the quality of the coating in terms of density and oxide content. The value for a coating will be lower than the equivalent bulk material (about 145 W/m/K) due to porosity, particle boundaries and oxide content I can't find any actual values for molybdenum coatings but I doubt whether a good molybdenum coating would produce any thermal barrier effects on steel, unless the coating has extremely high porosity or contains flaws.
