Hi there David,

Just having a look and are you Hard Anodising or just Chromic / Sulphuric Anodising?
Hard Anodise will work and will last longer and it will be fairly cheap. Agreement otherwise with Gordon and how much you want to spend

: : Hi all
: : I would like to coat the aluminium drive pulley on my experimental helicopter with a surface that is resistant to wear. There is an amount of slippage on the pulley as the clutch engages at start up, which has worn grooves into it. The pulley is anodised which gives it a harded skin, yet once the anodising layer wears through the belt quickly begins to wear the pulley. What would you recommend as a coating? The pulley is 6061 aircraft aluminium

: Hi David

: Thin thermal spray coatings of either alumina, chromium oxide or tungsten carbide/cobalt would be my initial choice. Many other hard coatings may be suitable, it depends on how much your willing to pay and availability.
