Some possible mechanisms for bonding:
mechanical interlocking
van der Waals forces
electrostatics
chemical bonding
diffusion
Bonding mechanisms will be dependent on type/chemistry of ceramic and glass, surface preparation and temperature/pressure used in bonding process.
The highest bond strength would be from diffusion bonding followed by chemical bonding etc.. I would suspect you will have diffusion and chemical bonding primarily. But, it is possible to have reasonable bonds from the other mechanisms which are primarily responsible for how organic adhesives and some thermal spray coatings stick.
Have you tested the bond strength? This may give a clue to the predominant bonding mechanism.
