Wants to setup metal spraying facility.
We are a medium size service company in Pakistan and slowly adding various repair facilities for the repair of rotary equipment. We intend to setup new metal spraying shop mainly for shafts rebuilding of various rotary equipment like turbines, pumps, motors/alternators, fans, rollers, bearing rebabbiting etc. We have no previous experience of metal spraying and our friends who have some knowledge of this field have advised us to purchase Sulzer Matco gun model 14E as with this gun we can use both hard and soft wires. We need your expert advise if we have selected the right model for our application or not? What will you suggest how we have to start our metal spraying facility? We highly appreciate adivse from members of the forum.
Regards,
Zubair Ghani

Hi Zubair

Sign0016 to the Surface Engineering Forum.

Yes, a combustion wire spray set-up would probably be the best to start with for general refurbishing of components. You will also need to think about a room or booth with good extraction and acoustic insulation, mechanical handling equipment, grit blasting facilities, compressed air, training etc. The spray gun itself will not necessarily be a significant outlay compared to the rest. Suggest you contact more than a few equipment suppliers and see what they can offer Big Grin

Hi, Zubair, welcome to thermal spray family. Some equipment like combustion and arc you easily find some knock off in India or China. good for use. If you make money this year, you can also think about a DJ manual gun (without DJC controller), just twice as much as 14E, but can do really more jobs. Good luck to you.
