Can anybody tell me the difference of the processing conditions and the efficiency of the three different heat treatment processes: 1. flame hardening 2. induction hardening 3. laser transformation hardening Thanks! |

1. flame hardening Basic, cheap, relatively easy set-up. Process not very accurate and gives relatively thick hardened cases. Process relies on heat conduction from component surface, so relatively slow. 2. induction hardening Relatively expensive and complex set-up. Process can be very accurate and repeatable and good for mass production. Process does not solely rely on heat conduction, but from internally generated heat from induced electrical currents. Can be extremely fast heating even for thick case hardening (frequency dependent). 3. laser transformation hardening Relatively expensive and complex set-up. Process can be very accurate and repeatable and good for mass production. Process relies on heat conduction. Fast for thin transformation layers or lazer glazing, but time required for deeper hardening. It is best to look at this from the point of view of the component and its intended application. You should be able find detailed information on this subject by searching Google or the like or reading a good book on heat treatment. Regards Gordon |

Flame hardening is a basic process used to harden a small depth, we cannot be able to controll the depth of hardness & melting of surfaces, Induction hardening is used to controll the hardness precisely till depth, coil can be made accrdingly to controll the hardness & profile to the Depth and real martensitic structure can be achieved Guru |
