AISI 420 powder

Hi looking for some sources for the following

1. HVOF 420
Powder needed AISI 420 stainless with factory certification, with mesh size suitable for use with Diamond Jet 2700 using Propane. If you have parameters would be nice as well.
Small Quantity: This is a new application, but maybe small about 50 kg on first order, thereafter maybe up to 150 kg per year.

2. We also use AISI 420 on regular basis for Plasma Welding, quantity used is about 250 kg per year, mesh size is -150/+45.

RE: AISI 420 powder

Well no answer from the group, but in case anyone ever needs this material, I have found it from Baystate in the USA, and TMC in Australia. Honestly it has been hard to source, and is not a standard HVOF material from TAFA nor Sulzer Metco.....

RE: AISI 420 powder

Thanks Stephen

Strange how 13Cr steels are widely used in wire form but not powder.

RE: AISI 420 powder

Yes, I am sure it is demand driven. The applications for coating with HVOF or even Laser, or PTA 420 are in my opinion slightly old solutions, basically "grandfathered" into the customers procedure. However, as a jobs shop, if I can provide the solution with the specified coating, and inform of a modern replacement material, then I have some advantages over the competition. Most manufacturers do have a 431SS in the product range, which is rather similar to the 420...
