using of LPG gas in hvof
Dear Friends

I have question that because of problem to supply propane I want to use LPG gas but the pressure is low and to get only max 4 bar, is it possible to spray wc, crc, MCrAlY powder, and get good quality of coating structure?
thanks

Hi Mlavar
Yes you can use LPG as a gas and spray Wc,Crc . You will need to to increase the pressure of LPG by utilizing a vaporizer .you can find simple vaporizers over the net.

Hi.....
Take care with HVOF and gases, in order to has an acceptable coating you must use only gas and OEM parameters, or you must have expertise technical assistance. LPG, Methane, and other mixture gases, do not work well alone, to run the gun, you must ignite with hydrogen and after pass to the other gas, but work pressure could not be changed, because it is an-self. Last week I run an HVOF, with methane, to do that I lighted the torch with hydrogen and after closed it while begun to rise the methane flow, I performed this for an Aerothermodynamic Lab Aerospace University, but this could be done only from an expertise, be careful with gases.
Best regards
Luigi

Dear,

I think its too late to respond this thread I hope your problem has been solved though I would like to inform you that we are one of the leading manufacturer of hvof & other thermal spray coating equipments like arc spray, flame spray & plasma spray. Our hvof system can be operated with LPG & produce better results we do supply vaporizer alongwith our system.

Thanks

RE: using of LPG gas in hvof
I really understand your problem, as that was the situation in Indonesia for many years. One of the challenges with LPG is that it is a commercial grade gas, a mixture of butane and propane. That mixture varies from country to country, and from month to month.

If your supplier can offer you a guaranteed supply of the LPG, with a fixed mixture ratio of propane and butane, then you might consider LPG. There are various suppliers of the vaporizers. However most specialize in Methane or Natural Gas.

If you can find and standardize on Methane, with a vaporizor, you will be better off.

Also, be very careful about the dirt and other debris in the lines......

To increase the pressure of the LPG we use balloon heating by fan heater or heating belts.

Hey. I need information on how to run HVOF (fuel gas-propane) on methane. Please give information.
1. Is your gun propane?
2. Which manufacturer.
3. What are the security requirements?
4. How to do it?
I will use for lighted propane
Thanks in advance

specialists! Share your experience on how to use the HVOF propane gun on methane or hydrogen.
Thanks in advance
