spray area and material loss
Dear All,
As far as I know while spraying Al the nozzle used does not have little holes at the sides that blow secondary air to restrict the width of the sprayed metal; and while applying Zn a nozzle with two secondery air holes that gives 45degrees angle to the sprayed metal is used. I was courious about the above since i started to work here, and neither our production manager nor my boss could state a reason for not using the nozzle with secodary air holes for Al application, or not designing nozzles which can make the sprayed metals width less than 45 degrees. It has been a long thread and it might be a silly question but i want to minimize the material loss at TS application, as all other applicators, and the width of spray is a main reason of high material loss. Looking forward to hear your responses |

RE: spray area and material loss
Hi basakglkn
Knowing what equipment/gun model and nozzles/air caps used may make it easier to answer your question. Regards Gordon www.gordonengland.co.uk www.surfaceengineer.co.uk Photography Obsession |

RE: spray area and material loss
Hi basakglkn
Don't know OSU arc systems very well, but I think you are talking about a "fan spray air cap" which produces a spray stream shaped like a fan, a bit like using a wide paint brush, broad coverage one way and narrow the other. There may be other special air caps or attachments for modifying the spray stream, so it probably worth contacting your OSU equipment supplier to see what they can supply.
