[split] Can plasma coat graphite on copper?
Does anyone knows if plasma can be used to coat fine graphite powder on copper plate. This is to be used as electrode.
Thanks |

RE: [split] Can plasma coat graphite on copper?
Hi hanker886
to the Surface Engineering Forum.I don't think so, certainly not with atmospheric thermal spray techniques, carbon will just burn away. Even if you managed a deposit, I would suspect it would be no better than soot, which you could get simply get by using a very reducing acetylene flame .Graphite can be deposited, but only when combined or co-sprayed with a metal binder such as with the nickel/graphite abradable coatings.
