RE: remove chrome plating
I usually grit blast chrome plating off of parts. It goes pretty quickly in my experience, and you have to grit blast the part anyway before applying WC. There are chemical strippers available if you want to use a less aggressive method.

RE: remove chrome plating
I agree. Abrasive works just fine unless it is extra thick plating. I would probably hit it with about 100 psi steel grit or aluminum oxide. That just about always works, and you'll know in 2 minutes if it will get the job done or not.

RE: remove chrome plating
well, this is fine now the thing is if i want to use some chemical process like etching then what will be the outcomes better than grit blasting or poor? i mean if i have to think both the quality of cleaning and cost factor together then which process to go for? if you are suggesting me chemical process kindly tell me chemical name!

RE: remove chrome plating
We use NaOH 60g/l at 70'C with 6Volt to strip Chrome from stainles steel parts. But the thickness of the parts are max 30micron and it will take 40 minutes. The time need to be extended based on thickness.
