heat treatment of MCrAlY coatings
Hello, everyone! MCrAlY coatings have been widely employed for its feasibility to tailoring specific coating compositions. They have to be annealed to improve their performance. What I am puzzled is the choice of annealing temperature. It seems that they are usually annealed at 1020~1080 degrees. However, when it comes to directional solidified or single crystallized superalloys, the temperature is much higher than their aging temperature. What’s the suitable annealing temperature for MCrAlY coatings on these alloys ?Any answers will be appreciated in advance!

RE: heat treatment of MCrAlY coatings
1020-1080 C for 4 hours heat treat is diffusion process, the Al will transfer to substrate to create a diffusion layer and the bonding strength of coating will be much higher. During the heat treat the coating will stabilized.

Hi Clover

You need to make your heat treatment procedure suitable for both coating and substrate. Little point treating your coating if it is going to have adverse effects on your substrate.

Hi Clover and other friends

did you find new things about heat treatment of MCrAlY coatings??
I need some documents about microstructure transformation during of heat treatment and what happened when heat treatment of MCrAlY coating is done

best regards

This is a heat-resistant coating that works well in gas and sulphide oxide corrosion conditions. It operates at different temperatures depending on the chromium and aluminum content. Exposure at such temperatures will increase adhesion due to diffusion processes in the interface.
