coating Fluidized Bed Combustion Boiler tubes
Dear all,
Does anyone has any experiences for coating Fluidized Bed Combustion Boiler tubes ? some used 13% chrome and 17% chrome, or Tungsten Wire like Tafa 97-MXC arc spray wires, or any others alloys that suitable against Abrasion and Corrosion ??
Thanks & Regards,

RE: coating Fluidized Bed Combustion Boiler tubes
Hi ,
we do coating on fluidized bed combustion boiler tubes with HVOF Chrome carbide Nickel Chrome (75/25) agglomerated and sintered. Coating thcikness 200-225 microns.
regards

Hello,
never used Arc-Spray ? or Flame Spray so far ? if anyone has tried one of both processes ?
Thanks & Regards,

RE: coating Fluidized Bed Combustion Boiler tubes
I know of people that use 95 MXC equivalent on boiler tubes that is successful

Dear KevGarty,
In our region the application 95MXC failed...so they changed to 97MXC...

Dear iwan,

Arc or flame spray coatings have much higher porosity and lower Bond strength which is why HVOF coatings of Cr3CrNiCr is preferred over these for abrasion and high temperature oxidation resistance In boiler tubes as the abrasion caused due to burning of coal is very high.

ARC spray using 50/50 NiCr wire is very suitable for waste heat recover boilers where the problem lies only in the high temperature oxidation and sulphate deposition but no abrasion as there is no coal to burn;

Regards

Shantanu

Dear Shantanu,
yes right HVOF lower porosity than arc or flame spray, have you ever used it by manual ? since I did not have any experiences with manual / automatic HVOF process...
Thanks & Regards,

Dear All,
I still wonder How hand Held HVOF coatings perform. I think that the Velocity of Hand Held gun should be very low compared to JP 5000 or Diamond Jet.
Regards.

We (MECPL, India) have done many boiler tube coating job works with our Hipojet (HVOF - Hand held gun) equipment and in the successive year coating thickness evaluation was performed and there was no sign of failure at all after one year.

I am attaching photographs of tubes after one year of coating done by HVOF, these pictures clearly intimate quality of work achieved with hvof hand held equipment.

https://firesidecoatings.com/ Fireside coatings are spray on ceramic coatings, that can be applied much faster, over a larger surface area to protect against high temperature scaling, and erosion, corrosion. It works well as as top layer over arc or hvof coatings, as well as on its own.

Coatings are suitable for gas fired or coal fired boilers.
