Dear All,
I have a project for inner ceramic coating, my question are :
1. do we need to undercut the object before we sprayed it? how deep we should undercut it? 2mm??
2. do we need a bonding material when we sprayed ceramic?

This will be dependent on the desired finished dimensions and the desired finished coating thickness.

In the majority of cases I would say yes.

Hi Reza, there are many other considerations for the internal coating of ceramics.

What process and material are you using?

Is it a blind hole, meaning one end closed?

2 mm thick on ceramic, sounds very thick for most processes.

Hi Reza,

well...most of your queries have already been answered by gordon and stephen.

just wanted to add that for any cermaic coating, 2mm thickness is very high. a finished thickness range of 200 to 400 microns should give you optimal results. also ensure that when you deposit the the ceramic such that the substrate temprature doesnot exceed 100Degree C.

Also, you have mentioned ID coating. unless you have a ID gun, spraying a hole more that 2-3" long will not be possible as you can only tilt the gun upto a treshold limit (30-45 degrees from gun axis). tilting it further will reduce your deposition efficiency and increase shadow porosity drastically.
