Which powder can be applied on base structure A351-CF8M
Dear Sir,
We have a hydraulic Pump of Flowserve. Some damages occurs inside. We intend to coat the surface by HVOF.
Please advise us which powder can be used in this case. The pump casing material is ASTM A351-CF8M.
The HVOF equipment is Termika -3 from Israel.
Look froward to receive your help.
Thanks so much.

You need more information than what is given here to determine what material is most suitable, but if I'm not mistaken that is a 300 series stainless alloy. Where in the pump are the damages taking place, and what appears to be causing it?

The root cause of the problem is the path to the ideal material, not the metallurgy of the failed component. Theoretically if the original material was the correct choice, then you wouldn't have the problem (unless it was an abhorration/process upset, etc.).

Hi there,
Thanks for your advise.
Please be explained that our guys have caused some damages by using portable grinding machine. Now we need to coat the inside pump by material with the equivalent specs.
The pump has been using in fertilizer plant.
The component of pump casing is: (link dead)
Look forward to receive your help soon

Hi minh_8888

The closest of the shelf powder I think will be a 316 stainless steel.

ASTM A 351/CF8 - 0.08% C, 19% Cr, 10% Ni, 2% Mo
AISI 316 - 0.08% C, 17% Cr, 12% Ni, 2.5% Mo
