Successive different layers
Hi
For many repair operations, we need to build up work piece before coating. For this, probably one of the best application is twin wire arc spray. But questions are;
These are different disciplines and many parameters are critical probably.
Lets say we must build up a rod then carbide coat 300 micron. Totally 5 mm must be filled.
We have;
Sand blasting (SB)
Twin wire arc spray (TWAS)
Machining with lathe (M) (im writing this because in some cases lathe is not suggesting)
Grinding (G)
HVOF

So what is normal serie?
SB + TWAS 95 5 wire 500microns + TWAS 420SS wire 4150 microns [+M or G??? Or directly HVOF??? + SB] + HVOF buffer 50 microns + HVOF Carbide 400 microns + G 50microns

On the other hand before hvof i do preheating but when i apply preheat befor TWAS, surface has cracks. So after twas before hvof should i heat? Is it risky?
