Spray Wire
Hi Folks,

I have a request to source a wire for ARC and or Flame Spray, however all I have is the composition

Fe Bal Cr 10% Al 7% Mo 5% Ni 5%

Does anyone recognise this ?

I'd appreciate any help

Muchas Gracias

Kev

RE: Spray Wire
That seems to be an odd composition. Most puzzling is the absence of carbon in the alloy. I did a quick search through the materials that I have readily available and can't say that there are any matches. I have occasionally run into an odd competitor here and there that manufactures a proprietary wire and convinces an engineer to specify the composition (effectively locking in the business without writing a spec that is overtly biased). I would suggest finding out more details about the service that the work piece is ultimately going into and making your own recommendation if you are sufficiently confident that you are able to. You could spend ages searching for this wire if it is a tiny manufacturer or if it isn't commercially available.

Thanks Michigan Man,

I thought it was a very strange compsition but apparently that is what he has. I have advised some of our range but I will have to just wait and see.

Thanks again for your reply
