Silicon Powder Clogging
I cannot get my SG 100 gun to consistently spray Amperit 170 Silicon metal powder without clogging. Does anyone know parameters that will? Ar H2 He N2 V A? Is there a better gun for this low density material?

Problem with the silicon is its low density and relatively low melting temperature. Burner with a radial powder injection inside the nozzle, like SG 100, are just too hot for that. You can try to work with the maximum flow of pure argon and the lowest possible current. If it does not help, you either need a burner with the radial powder feed outside the nozzle (for example F4) or, better, a burner with axial powder feed (Axial III from Mettech).

The SG-100 gun has a number of different anodes which can direct the powder backwards or forwards into the flame. It also has the option of an external powder feed so I suggest you speak to your local Praxair rep about the options available.
