SM 9MB Gun problem
Hi All,
yesterday we were spraying with SM 9MB gun and the gun back fired melting the nozzle and the electrode. What could be the reason . the system flows and current have been calibrated. The temperature and pressure of the cooling water as per SM manual.

RE: SM 9MB Gun problem
If someone mixes up the cables it will melt the electrode and backfire. Seen it lol.

Not possible on OEM configured 9MB but on others yes.

HI Len,
thank you for your suggestion . I am working on the problem. After your suggestion i have checked the gun and found that water might be leaking from the water channeling head. Also will excessive cooling water pump pressure and temperature of cooling water cause condensation in the nozzle and lead to melting of the nozzle as well?
regards

RE: SM 9MB Gun problem
Purge your gun and check for leaks. We use a chiller and have no trouble with condensation on the inside. If there is any it is purged out before the gun starts. You can use your finger, a mirror etc and look for water coming out of the nozzle. It generally only ever leaks where the nozzle sits in the channeling head. Change all the orings on the gun to be safe and eliminate that. Check for cracks on the insulator.
