Possibility Study to use Stellite - 306 Bond Coat for 75Cr3C2 -25NiCr Top Coat -Reg

Hi forum members,

Can Stellite -306 coating (HVOF Process) can be used as bond coat for 75Cr3C2 -25NiCr coating for power sector components.

I am having doubt to do the same because of high hardness of Stellite - 306 Coating as bond coat but our customer specified the same.

Please share experience about stellite -306 bond coat and possibilities to use it as bond coat on Alloy steels.

First i want to ask smtg, Why do you want to do bond coat under the CrCarbide ? Do you want to planning the build up with Stellite coating? Becouse you dont have to bond coat under Carbide coating with HVOF.

That is my Customer specification and i have to study possibilities of the same because customer is SIEMENS and some logic is there . They clearly mentioning Stellite - 306 Coat before 75Cr3C2 - 25NiCr coating for alloy steel castings.
