Nitrogen Cooling
Does anyone have any experience cooling with Nitrogen instead of compressed air? Is it a worth while pursuit?

No, cooling with liquid nitrogen instead of compressed air makes little sense. Much greater effect gives a quick relative movement of the burner (better temperature distribution to component along with thinner layer thicknesses per pass). Even when coating a small component, it is much better to divide the burner energy into several simultaneously rotating identical components than to cool one of it with liquid nitrogen.

RE: Nitrogen Cooling
Hi Neufeld
This new technology, using cryogenic nitrogen to maintain constant temperature during HVOF or APS coating applications, is normally used on aerospace applications in order to improve coating quality and reduce the production costs, furthermore, you could maintain the specified coating temperature limits, and reduce coating surface stresses with better coating technical performance.

Best regards
Luigi
