New to Forum
Hi Guys an Gals,
I am new to your forum, i have joined to enable me to gain some extra knowledge, contacts and equipment. as i am looking at the possibilty of setting up a very small 1 or 2 man thermal coating Co in North West England. I have experience in most aspects of Thermal Coatings. As you can imagine this is a quite a daunting prospect for myself, do you think it may be do-able, or is my area saturated with similar companies ![]() Many Thanks |

RE: New to Forum
Hi SpraymanDan
to the Surface Engineering Forum.Do-able, I think yes Easy task perhaps not.N.W. England probably has more than fair share of thermal spray companies in UK as a whole, but it also has more than fair share of manufacturing industries. Many thermal spray companies tend to end up specialising in specific application/industry/market types. Are you aiming to target any specific type of work? RE: New to Forum
Hi Gordon,
Thanks for the reply Yes i imagine it is not going to be easy task, and yes you have confirmed my thoughts that there is a lot of these companies around this area. i was basically going to stick with engineering / general / mobile repairs, chrome steel and T/C coatings with use of a twin wire arc, basic flame spray equipment and then a manual HVOF system eventually. Do you think i would also require Grinding machinery, centre lathe and suitable premises etc for ease of work, or do you think i could work around this issue? TTFN SMD

Hi SpraymanDan
I know many don't provide finishing services directly, but rely on symbiotic relationships with other companies. Regards Gordon www.gordonengland.co.uk www.surfaceengineer.co.uk Photography Obsession |
