I thought it would be interesting to survey the membership of this forum as to their involvement with surface engineering. Please select one category only that best describes your role/interest.

Update (08 June 2010):

This thread has become rather large and difficult to navigate, so I request that new introductions be made as new threads in this forum.

Members that have posted in this thread are welcome to re-post their introduction as a new thread also.

Regards Gordon

Hi,
Got just the idea, why not try to get all old farts involved to this Forum. Every company is loosing a significant amount of knowledge, when people get retired, maybe some of them are restricted with huch-huch.
Many of these individuals are anyway TS-crazy as me.
I have this funny faith that all revealed TS-secrets will be useful to the TS-business globally.

br bhe, being sometimes nostalgic.

Hi bhellman

Nice idea, certainly "old farts" Mad0233 are more than welcome. Perhaps I should add the category of "old farts" to the poll Happy0193 Seriously, the more people with experience, knowledge or "black art" in surface engineering the better this forum will be for everyone. The success of the forum is really dependent on the activity of the members.

Hi bhellman

Not sure what you mean by side channel. We can make as many sub-forums as we like, some with restricted access and permissions if needed. I don't know if I like the idea of too many sub-forums at this early stage in the development of this forum. But I am open to suggestions.

I'm a thermal spray operator/"surface enhancement specialist" so I guess it'd be considered a provider of S.E coatings Big Grin

Hi Donald

I do like your term "surface enhancement specialist" and I'm sure the term is justified in your case.

My son calls himself a surface enhancement specialist (artist/painter). Well, I suppose it depends on the individual observer whether its an enhancement or not Happy0193 Hope he does not see this as I'm only joking really.

Hello all

I am an engineer in university, I am in thermal spray for 15 years at LERMPS (http://www.lermps.com). I use most of time atmospheric plasma spraying and HVOF and sometime Vacuum plasma spraying, arc wire and flame spray.

Hello

Thanks Gordon, you have a marvelous thermal spray website.

I just forget that sometime I use too atmospheric coldspray and perhaps one day I will use the low pressure helium coldspray!

Regards

Olivier

Hi All,

I'm a fourth generation chrome plater with interests in moving into other surface coatings like Hvof and Hvaf.

Gordon, you have provided a website that has a vast cornucopia of knowledge and insight that is hard to find.

Glad to be here

RE: Member Survey - Introduce yourself here
Hi, I'm working for a thermal spray job shop in the chicago area. We currently apply materials via twin arc wire, old metco flame guns, a Alamo powder system, and an High Velocity Wire Arc unit built by the High Wire Corp. (no longer in business I guess). We're looking to expand to HVAF or HVOF, and am in the process of visiting vendors to gather information. Thanks for all the help so far.
