Making new thread in a shaft of Jumbo Roll
Dear all,
Pls let me know if anyone has an experience to make new thread for a shaft, due to the old one has been broken and ground, it is advisable to build-up by wire flame / arc-spray thermalspray process and then make new thread ?? shaft diameter is 130mm, thread length is 50mm, total length of the roll is 5150mm, OD roll :429mm, Face length 4460mm. We plan to build-up by welding process in order to make more stronger than T/S or the other alternative in to make ring and then thread the ring. Any suggestions ?? pls let me know and thanks in advance for join in this forum... |

Hi iwan-sedaryawan
to the Surface Engineering Forum.Quote:Pls let me know if anyone has an experience to make new thread for a shaft, due to the old one has been broken and ground, it is advisable to build-up by wire flame / arc-spray thermalspray process and then make new thread ?? I would say no, in the majority of cases thermal spray coatings are not strong enough in this situation. Use welding process or sleeve with threaded ring. I will move this thread to the Surface Engineering Forum section. Regards Gordon www.gordonengland.co.uk www.surfaceengineer.co.uk Photography Obsession |
