How to apply a uniform coat on a cone pulley with 8 different diameters
Hi forum
I recently coated a cone pulley with 8 different diameters. I adjust the transverse speed of gun proportional to each step diameters (reduce the transverse speed of gun by increasing the diameter) to ensure having same coat thickness in a single pass on every 8 step. But surprisingly I have found that for the equal numbers of passes, coating thickness increased by increasing the diameter. I guess that’s because of the difference in surface speeds for each 8 steps of cone pulley. My question is that how I can spray such a cone pulley to have the same thickness at final stage of coating for all diameters???
The coating conditions that i used:
1)Hp-HVOF
2)WC-10Co-4Cr
3)minimum diameter: 63.95mm & maximum diameter:166.02mm
4) rotation speed: 120 RPM

RE: How to apply a uniform coat on a cone pulley with 8 different diameters
I would think adjusting the lateral speed as per the SFPM (circumference * rpm) - need to program the robot accordingly - maybe a difficult task as the width of each step would be very small i would guess....

RE: How to apply a uniform coat on a cone pulley with 8 different diameters
hello and welcome
Each diameter has to have a different RPM and traverse speed to equal the same surface feet per minute. Smile

Dia X 3.14(Pi)=Circumference
2400"(surface inch per minute) / Circumference = Turntable RPM
RPM X .120"(step per revaluation) = Robot traverse

thanks for your complete response
if I understood your comment I need a rotating table which could be programed simultaneously with robot that I don’t have itBig Grin
