Hardness with Arc Spray Wire
What is the maximum hardness I can get with wire arc spray process? This is valve application so also suggest wire for it & what hardness I can get? buying a hvof system include large cost so want to do this with arc spray only.

Thanks

Dany

Nanosteel TWAS wire is the hardest I know about. Sold exclusively through Lincoln Electric. Here is link to Nanosteel

RE: Hardness with Arc Spray Wire
Hello Dany
You can use cored wires with Wc around 35% and other aditives like Cr/C/Si/B/Mn, and you can obtain till HRC 66/70, but your arc spray system must be idoneus to spray this kind of materials.
Best regards
Luigi

Dear,

Is it 95MXC wire? & what you mean with Idoneus system?

Thanks

RE: Hardness with Arc Spray Wire
95MXC or W-662 from Fst could be Ok, but if you need higher hardness, you could use cored wire like W-679 Fst wire or Castolin 97MXC which has about 26% Wc.
adequate arc spray system I mean that it will be Push-Pull (but of course not as Smartarc from Metco), and a very stable main power supply.
Best regards
Luigi
