Hardfacing shredder blades ??
Hi..
Hoping someone can help me with a bit of info.
I hardface shredder blades, abro 400 base. I layer HF600 wire with mig, they get ground to final shape, I retip with same wire every few months,
I've been thinking about using tig to retip with a stellite rod. Or a cobolt based rod, what im worried about is the difference in how brittle it is and the chances of breaking off.

Or are there better options?

The shredder is a Shredtech st100 processing rubber only.

Many thanks in advance.

RE: Hardfacing shredder blades ??
To increase impact resistance and wear resistance you can use oxy acetylen method and use 60 wc 40 nicrbsi. If rubber contains wires or steel particules it may not work but for toughness oxyacetylen melted wc particules has best resistance in nickel matrix as crack free deposit. For cheaper solutions you can use v contained mma electrodes.
So for me higher heat input is better. OxyAcetylen > mma > tig then mig
