Those coating are very porous and full of cracks. The sealer just fills the voids. Most spray the part then seal when its still warm. Then machine or whatever required
They are porous compared to plasma coatings. If you look at a micro of it, the sealer will penetrate deep into the coating. On better aluminum bronze coatings such as wire arc, the sealer only penetrates a small amount into the coating. The sealer generally gets machined off, making it useless.

They are porous compared to plasma coatings. If you look at a micro of it, the sealer will penetrate deep into the coating. The pores can interconnet right to the substrate. On better aluminum bronze coatings such as wire arc, the sealer only penetrates a small amount into the coating. The sealer generally gets machined off, making it useless. They recommend using a sealer for added protection from the elements, such as metallizing a ship where there is contact with salt water.
