Hi RVRTRSH

Sign0016 to the Surface Engineering Forum.

I think FM 1000 adhesive film is made by Cytec Industries Inc, USA. Web site: https://www.cytec.com/

Hope that helps Smile

Thanks Gordon, I found Cytec Industries but they are asking for a weight or nominal thickness and I am not sure what that would be. In the spec they do not require a thickness, so she is quoting us on the .010" thickness. I am new to HVOF coating so I am glad that I found this web site. I am sure you will get many more questions from me in the future. Thanks again.

I have not tried this product, but hear that it is good. I would assume you need to select the thickness of film that will more than fill the gap, after consideration of coating flatness and surface roughness.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to this post. I got in touch with Rob @ Couch Sales and he got me what we needed. We built a fixture and sent some samples to the lab, just waiting to hear back. Thanks for all the info.

RE: Fm1000 epoxy
Hi All,

I've got to arrange tensile testing for bond strength of coatings, and have run in to a bit of a snag - I can't get hold of the adhesive any time soon or for a reasonable price. It's the Rolls-Royce spec RPS927/5 that I've got to work to. It does suggest that I can use an alternative, but I'm unaware of one existing.

Does anyone have any advice on this?

Regards,

Steven P

I'm about to try and source this also - If I locate any for a reasonable price and lead time I will post on here.

Cheers

RE: Fm1000 epoxy
It was mentioned earlier in this post that couch sales llc sells this product, which is accurate. We run a testing facility and purchase from couch on a regular basis. The mfg of FM 1000 only makes the product 4 times a year (quarterly) and requires a 5 month lead time. If you are in need of the product, contact couch so
That you are able to place an order for their next shipment.

RE: Fm1000 epoxy
Hi Rvrtrsh
I used EP15 from Master Bond which is an adhesive that need to be heated at about 90 °C as well as it performed very well up to 80 MPa, at room temperature is lower, I used it in order to test the coating applied by HVOF on an Air Booster for Desox fumes in an Electric power plant, the specification was to match ASTM C 633, I used many others adhesives from Loctite, and there are many others
Best regards
Luigi
