Flexicord Saint gobain opinion
Hello, has anyone had any experience with the Saint gobain flexicord products? In particular with cermets material (wc-co), is the obtained coating as good as hvof one in terms of hardness and rate of wear under operation?
Your feedback is greatly appreciated, thank you very much in advance!

Hi MVagusta

Saint Gobain Flexicord are good products in order to extend the flame wire applications, but not all of the flame spray wire gun can spray this kind of materials, for example Metco 12E to 16E do not spray this materials because the wire rollers are not appropriate, and air motor has too much speed variations, only with FWS-20 electric motor gun or equivalent you can spray this materials, that need a very accurate wire feeding, about quality, of course youo could not substitute an HVOF or APS coatings, only with the HVOF 1000 flame wire gun you can have some good coating near a Traditional HVOF Fuel

Hi Luigi,

Can the rocdur(rocdur 62) product of saint gobain, be used(as fused) for glass industry plungers, how do they perform against the powder sprayed and fused plungers.

rocdur has 9.5 percent of w, can this be fused.

i tried to fuse colmonoy 88(powder sprayed with 5p)(it has 15.5 percent of w), i could not fuse it, could not attain the glossy finish(which is the sign of a good fusing process).

thanks in advance.

regards,

Abhay

Hi Abhay

No Rocdur 62 could not be applied on long plungers, because all the Rocdur line of products has about 1% of porosity, the only product that was applied successfully was NiBoSiwc50% and fine grain by HVOF technology, I applied Rocdur 48 or 67 which are self fusing alloys on accessories of the glass mould and on the mould sharp with success, fused while been sprayed

Hi luigi,

thanks for the reply,

NiBoSiwc50% by HVOF technology, i believe is the best coating a plunger can get, but.

We have recently moved the plunger coating from 50 hrc nicrbsi to 60 hrc nicrbsi.

1) compared to our 60 hrc nicrbsi coating, will rocdur 62 coated plunger give a better performance.

2) and can rocdur 62 be fused.

thanks again

Hi Abhay
Yes of course, all rocdur could be fused, if you look at the technical bulletin, you can see that there are B and Si, you can use it as a spray and fuse material, but you can have a little more porosity and oxides.
Best regards
Luigi
