Flame Spray Gun
Hi there,
I use 14E Flame Spray Gun with 2GF and i want to ask you if anyone knows the best stoichoiometry of gases (acetylene/oxygen) for the maximum yield of the gun..
Any advice will be helpfull..

Thank you Big Grin

RE: Flame Spray Gun
Hi Aioa

To be honest, use the pressures and flows suggested by your 14E gun manual for the particular wire material you want to spray. These will be close to the optimum conditions for getting the best balance of coating properties and spray efficiency.

If you feel it is worth experimenting, you could take the recommended parameters and hardware for a particular wire and use as a base line. Changing gas, air flows and wire feed rate etc. to see effect. Generally, observing the length of the wire tip relative to feed rate will give an indication of melting efficiency (flame temperature/energy). You will also really need to do coating deposit efficiency tests and coating evaluation to get the whole picture. This is really quite complex as there are many other parameters that effect yield and desired coating qualities than just oxygen/fuel ratio.

I know all this but i had the illusion that there was a standard ASM to begin with..
I just test the gun today by spraying Cu (wire) in Steel substrate

Thank you Gordon
