Defect Missing Material and Coating Failure
Dear guys, very important case for my business in this.
My customer complain that our coating services is not good. Its install in 1st Stage Rotor SIEMENS engine. The blade age is 85.550 EOH, and the Coating is Bond coat MCrAlY, top coat YSZ (ceramic). We assume that the failure of missing material blade and coating is erosion, and material fatigue. Not FOD, if failure like FOD the defect isn't smooth like this. Our hipotesys is that the age of material its very high also include of the failure. Could you advice me, what information we must need to investigation the failure ??. and if be better get the reference. Maybe you could send me the message in achmadarifudinh@gmail.com for we discussion of this case. Very full of thanks. ![]()

RE: Defect Missing Material and Coating Failure
For me it seems the component base metal is week. It's not all about coating failure. Have you done PRE solution heat treatment before you did repair? This use to happen when your base metal loose their weld ability.

Thanks for your respon Mr. Demion We have done the pre-solution heat treatment before repair, and precipitation heat treatment after welding. And we do heat treatment for diffusion coating in bond coat as per powder material spesification.
