Cromium carbide
Hello!
I have a problem). Cromium carbide. How to remove this coating from steel sample without touching sample? Thikness is 20µ.

Not much hope im afraid, if you can touch the sample.

I have had a similar problem with coating Ball Valves with Tungsten I ended up grit blasting it constantly moving to eliminate chance of distortion of effecting base material

Don't know if that's of any help, another option is chemically stripping ?

If its a plasma coating then water jet stripping will remove it no problems. It can be chemically stripped also.

what the chemical methods are you mean? i used many active acids, but i had not results or my samples was solved in this reactives.

We used a grit blasting, but this method is not avalible for us.
I need a chemical methods, do You know something about it?

Try getting a chrome/nickel stripper. If you can remove enough of the matrix, the CrC will fall off. A reverse electroplating process will help accelerate the removal of chrome.

We can remove it with grinding machine. I think that it is good and exact solution,

The grinding machine is a good solution for smooth and even surfaces, but we have irregular samples with protrusions(

I agree with Sparrow on the comment to novakmichal86's post: grinding isn't efficient and will cause irregularities on the surface. Even though it might strip the coating, the next problem will be lapping in the ball properly and getting a positive seal. And that problem, with uneven ball surfaces, is even greater than the coating problem.

I'd go with chemical stripping.
