Chrome oxide thermal sprayed coatings shelf life

Hi All members,

We recently had a enquiry from one of our clients in the anilox industry about the "shelf life" of ceramic (chrome oxide) coatings.

Our feeling is that if stored properly - these coatings should have a generally extended shelf life but exactly how long is not known. Does anyone in this forum have more detail / experience regarding this? Also it would be great if you can elaborate with regards to the specific storage conditions.

Hi Leanne

Shelf life will be very dependent on environmental conditions. Kept in perfectly dry conditions (low humidity) shelf life should be pretty much an indefinite long time.

In less perfect conditions, the quality of coating, substrate material, sealing material etc will effect shelf life.
