Burnishing Process
Dear All,
I would like to know how much hardness can be increased by this process on EN 8 shafts
Thanks

RE: Burnishing Process
Hi Vijay

Depending on the burnishing process, you should get some surface work hardening, but with EN 8 I doubt this would show much increase in hardness as measured from a hardness test anyway. I'm sure burnishing will improve wear, fatigue and finish over no treatment, but I don't think it will be a replacement for heat treatment/induction surface hardening etc.
