Brazing light metals (Aluminium and Magnesium)
Thank you for the useful website.
I am working in brazing light metals ( such as Aluminum and Magnesium). I am wondering if there is any foil that is Aluminium based and melt (make eutectic) at temperature around 500C. I mean something like aluminium blenede with magnesium or zinc or some other element which could lower the melting point of the foil. I search through the internet but I couldn't find anything .

RE: Brazing light metals (Aluminum and Magnesium)
Hi JimLiang
to the Surface Engineering Forum. Some links on brazing aluminium and magnesium and filler materials: http://www.key-to-metals.com/Article36.htm http://www.aws.org/wj/2005/10/033/ http://www.aws.org/wj/supplement/03-2005-WATANABE-s.pdf http://www.magnesium.com/w3/data-bank/index.php?mgw=181 Finding a supplier, particularly foil may be more difficult. Try http://www.jm-metaljoining.com/ Hope that's of some help. Regards Gordon www.gordonengland.co.uk www.surfaceengineer.co.uk Photography Obsession |
