Question  Anti-sticky coating ?
My customer has one aluminum roller which rotates/sits on a sticky tape. He wanted us to apply a coating on roller so that the sticky tape won't stick on the roller.

Mad0228 I went through some thermal spray articles, but i never come across coating that can resist sticky.

I will get some sticky tape, get more info from customer. But what should I do? Which material is suitable to try?

Hi Powerman

Are you referring to the rather difficult to meet requirements of a good traction surface for moving product at the same time as having a non-stick properties? I would suggest a very coarse textured thermal spray coating (tungsten carbide based for more extreme abrasion resistance) topped off with a thin PTFE "Teflon" type oven cured polymer. This system should give you texture for grip, non-stick from the polymer and good wear resistance and polymer anchoring from the thermal spray coating.

I don't know where you are located powerman. If you are in the UK, contact Poeton. You can outsource to them. They have a coating that adhesives will not stick to. If you are in the United States, contact General Magnaplate.

RE: Anti-sticky coating ?
Try using some mold release coatings as a sealer over your thermal spray. They offer a big advantage over PTFE coatings in that they do not necessarily need to be cured at 200C. Also, they can be reapplied without removing the old coating.

Another possibility might be boron nitride paint. We got some from an industrial warehouse supplier. It came in an aerosol can which made it very convenient to try. Again, it cured at room temperature. You can contact me off-line for specific product recommendations.

Hi..
"Nano mould release" works excellent with aluminum..
Once cured, ( room temperature, 20-30C~10-12hrs ).
Even epoxy cant hold on to it.
you can check out this site, (link dead)
