Aluminium coating
Hi,

Please help me!
I have to obtain on Aluminium coating on a 10 m long and 3 m diameter tank (carbon steel),
The thickness of the coating must be >0,12 mm.
Is it allowed to blast with quartz sand bebore spraying ?
Till now I never sprayed so big areas.
Do you know which could be the price for such a tank?
Thank you !

RE: Aluminium coating
Hi exnnerspray

I would only recommend using alumina or chilled iron grit for final blasting before spraying. By all means use the cheaper blasting abrasives for initial cleaning of the surface before final grit blasting. The key to a good coating is in the substrate preparation, so take care when considering cheaper blasting materials.

Hi exnnerspray,
While carrying out Aluminium spray coating inside the vessle be sure about Fume and aluminium dust removal as some times aluminium dust becomes self explosive.
Wish you a best opf luck

Hi Laurent

Your post, I think is best as a new thread, as it is a little off topic here. I have create a new thread for you "Difference between Metco 450ns and Metco 8400?"

(05-06-2009 10:05 AM)Laurent Wrote:  Hello,
According to documentation available on web sites Metco 450NS and Metco 8400 are equivalent.
Metco 8400 is arc wire though.

Is there a difference between Metco 450NS and Metco 8400, used as a bond Ni 5Al?
If yes, could you please confirm?

Thanks for your help

Cheers
Laurent
