Agglomerated Or HOSP powder for TBC top coat
Hi forum members,
which is a better powder of TBC topcaot . Agglomerated and Sintered or Hollow Oxide Spherical Powder (HOSP)? I have been reading different Views each expressing their powder manufacturing technology is Better.
Could any one throw light light on this.

HI Ravi

I feel HOSP Powders are superior than agglomerated and sintered powders for Thermal Barrier Coatings because you will get more porosity with HOSP Powder than agglomerated and sintered powder.

The more porosity will be help to get good Thermal Barrier Properties.

Thanking you

I feel the same way, from thermal spray stand point, HOSP powder will get more porosity and higher DE than agglometered and sintered powder but don't have any data about the TBC coating performance. HOSP coating is more brittle and easy to get vertical crack but hard to get dance coating.
