After mixing, do we need to sieve the powder for plasma spray???
Hello everyone,

I want to mix Calcium phosphate (20-80um) and yttria stabilised zirconia (45-75um) by ball milling.I want to use air plasma spray technique.

After mixing this two powder should I need to sieve the composite powder or not?

Thanks a lot.

Fahad

RE: After mixing, do we need to sieve the powder for plasma spray???
Hi Fahad

I would not ball mill, just blend the two powders together (assuming your powders are at the desired particle size) and no sieving will be required.

If you have already ball milled the powders, then you will probably need to sieve to remove the undersized particles that would probably be produced.

Sorry, nit picking - I would name this a powder blend not a powder composite, unless of course you are doing things that you have not disclosed Wink
