Acid reaction with metals
Does anyone have a resource to show how various metals will be dissolved in different acids? Perhaps we could call this a compatibility chart. If not, how could one predict if the molecules of the acid would break apart to react with the metal. I remember something from chemistry class, but it has been a long time.

RE: Acid reaction with metals
Hi djewell

Links below may be of use. Metco use to do a "Handbook of Coating Recommendations" with a section on chemical corrosion resistance of many Metco coatings. As with all of this, take with a very large pinch of salt. OK for gaining an initial feeling/starting point for compatibility, but not to be trusted upon particularly for coatings, bimetallic set-ups etc. etc.
