88WC-12Co HVOF coating H2 contact
Good afternoon partners,
I have a question, Does any one have experience or know something about the interaction of a thermal spray coating 88 WC-12Co HVOF with Hydrogen (H2) and natural gas at approximately 150 celcius?? Is there a posibility of a chemical reaction?? I read something of mechanical seals and the WC-Ni materials have good performance, what do you think?? Regards. Héctor Monjardin

Conversely, all of components (tungsten carbide, nickel and cobalt) "like" H2 and CH4, because by these gases, oxides of cobalt, nickel and tungsten can be revert to WC and metallic nickel or cobalt at high temperatures (> 800°C): WO3 + CH4 + H2 = WC + 3H2O Co(Ni)O + H2 = Co(Ni) + H2O Co(Ni)O + CH4 = Co(Ni) + CO + 2H2 (Carbides of cobalt and nickel are not thermodynamically stable) Regards Vadim
