68F-NS-1
Hello guys,
Could you please help?
We currently have hard coating of 68F-NS-1 to apply as a top coat on a "fretting surface" of an air inlet housing.
Pre machining has been completed.
OEM technical data is not very clear about maxi thickness, but also about mini hardness.
We are not sure about a possible peeling test.

Thanks for your help
Kind regards

RE: 68F-NS-1
Hi Laurent

My old tech bulletin (sept 1983) indicates:

Coatings of Metco 68F-NS-1 can be applied in thickness’s up to 0.025" (0.65mm) without cracking.

Macrohardness: 45 HRC
Microhardness: 525 +-75 HV/0.3
Oxide content: less than 2%
Porosity: less than 5%
Bond Strength on low carbon steel with Metcolite VF blast: 6500 psi (44.8 MPa)

Note these are typical physical properties of the coating as sprayed (not heat treated) with Metco MB type plasma guns and parameters and should be used as a guide as to what to expect from the coating as a posed to setting hard and fast specification limits.

If you are heat treating these coatings, then properties will be very different.
