601ns with uni spray gun
Hi All,
I need to coat 601ns but have only unispray gun instead of plasma.
I was wondering if it's possible to coat with such gun a 2.5 mm thick coating with 450ns bond coat?
I have read threads in this forum regarding problems people have had about peeling off coatings and due to very expensive cost of raw material am afraid to risk and take this job!
any advises?
Sali

Sali,
In a simple flame spray gun without powder feeder, aluminum-silicone polyester powder will burn. You get no or very bad layer. Do not do it.

Hi Vadim,
Thanks for sharing your experience with me.
our flame spray is a simple one and the powder feeder is only a reservoir can on top of the gun.

RE: 601ns with uni spray gun
Can you get any compressed air into the gun/flame?

Might work if you travel fast with a short spray distance? I spray XPT regularly (today in fact) ot can be a bit troublesome but if you keep the heat down should work.

Metco 310 is similar to 601/XPT. This can be sprayed with a 6PII. I can maybe help you with parameters tomorrow if thats any good to you?

Could be a starting point

Yes we can supply compressed air into the gun!

RE: 601ns with uni spray gun
Hi Sali
I ever do any kind of update on old guns (Flamespray, Plasma, HVOF, arc spray), in order to spray any kind of materials, but the problem will be quality of the coating or if there is a specification to follow, as well as this kind of powders are very difficult to set with the equipment recommended, and is important to have a very good volumetric powder feeder, so this powder must be sprayed only with APS
Best regards
Luigi
