Hi,
Sorry for the very basic questions I am completely unfamiliar with this field.

I am looking for alternative coatings for aluminium bicycle rims. Typically 6000 series aluminium extrusions with welds if that makes a difference.

Currently these are either hard anodised or decoratively chromed by a normal electrolytic process by a third party.

Will all these sprayed coatings such as HVOF and Plasma thermal spray be outrageously expensive by comparason? What kind of order of magnitude?

What processes and coatings would be most suitable in terms of wear and chip resistance?

Where would be a good point to start my researches?

Many thanks for any help.
