Hi,

I suggest to spray first a metallical bond coating on the steel substrate: Thickness 100 - 300 microns (Material e.g. NiAl 95-5 or NiCrAlY)
and for top coating ZrO2-93-Y2O3-7. For both powders use APS (atmospherical plasma spraying).

The thickness of the TBC ZrO2-93-Y2O3-7 mainly depends on the temperature drop you need. But don´t forget the cooling of the coated base material. In this manner turbine airfoils will be coated.

Regards,

Juergen
