: What is carbide? Is it a element or just the shape of particles? Is W and WC the same? I looked in your glossary but couldn't find it. What is the difference with borides.
: Thank you

Carbides are normally a hard ceramic like compound formed from elements like tungsten, chromium, iron, silicon etc with carbon. W is the symbol for tungsten and WC for tungsten carbide. Borides are similar, just boron compounds instead of carbon. Metal carbides/borides have very different properties compared to the respective pure metal from which they are based.
