: Do you have comparison data for various hardfacings materials applied to internal parts of valves for wear, abrasion, erosion, corrosion, chemical and impact resistance, such as:
: Stellite(s)
: Nickle Alloys
: Chromium carbides
: Tungsten carbides
: Colmonoys
: Incoloys
: Hastelloys
: etc.
: It would be very useful to compare the pro's and con's, their propoerties both compositional, physical and mechanical, etc.
:
: Thankyou in advance for your help.

Hi, there,

Apart from both the carbide types above, there are few overlaps among the rest due to using of the trade names.

1. Stellite alloys (6, 31, 23...) are essentially Ni-based alloys (Deloro Stellite TM), so are the Colmonoys (Wall Colmonoys TM), and the Hastelloys (C, B, ... from Haynes International). One not mentioned in the above list is the Inconel alloys that are also Ni-based from the INCO (now Special Metals Corp). Among these trade names, you may find some equivalence in terms of alloy compositions.

2. Incoloy refers to a small group of Fe-based superalloys of the Special Metals make.

3. Before attempting to conduct the comparison, it may be better to clarify broadly the above.
