: Is there a optimum temperature range for the compressed air used for arc thermal spray?
: We are using portable arc wire thermal spray equipment to coat with stainless steel surfaces under the open sky and we noticed a major increase in porosity of the layer during winter weather.
: Is it necessary to actually warm up the flow of compressed air to be able to perform such a task when the ambient temperature is 30-40°F?
: Any input will be apreciated. Thank you

I think at these low temperatures preheating your substrate material would be of more benefit. I would avoid using combustion heat sources though, as you may get problems with condensation.
