: Dear Gordon,
: What is the ideal equipment to apply diamalloy 4006?
: Please include parameters if possible
: Problem: excess unmelts/porosity ( just ugly micros at 190X mag. I can send pics if needed.

The ideal equipment for applying this material is the Metco or Sulzer Metco Diamond Jet HVOF for which this material was first developed. Although, most of the other HVOF systems should be capable of producing good coatings with some parameter optimisation. I believe the older Metco 700 and 700F materials developed for plasma spraying have basically the same chemistry.
HVOF coatings of this type typically have high concentrations of unmelted particles, but usually low in porosity.
It would be good to see a photo which would be necessary really to comment further. If you don't mind displaying the photo to everybody viewing this message board then please post a link or email the image to me for posting to the board. This way you could receive more than just my view of things and may produce some interesting discussion. If you wish to keep it private then please contact me via email.
